Signal - This is a kind of electrical current through which we carry data from one place to another.

 We use two types of signal in the instrumentation and automation sectors.
1) Analog signal
2) Digital signal

 Analog Signal - Analog signals are signals in which the signal is in the form of 4 -20 mA.

 It is of two types.
1) Analog input
2) Analog output
Analog Input - These are the signals that come from field to PLC in the form of 4 -20 mA.
Such as: - Flow meter, pressure transmitter, level transmitter, pH analyzer, Turbidity and TDS analyzer, chlorine analyzer, vibration probes etc.

Analog Output - These are signals that move from PLC to field in the form of 4 -20 mA.
Such as: - Control valve etc.

 Digital signal - Digital signals are signals in which the signal is in the form of 0 & 1.

 It is of two types.
1) Digital input
2) Digital output

 Digital input: - These are the signals which come from the field in the form of 0 & 1 to the PLC.
Such as: - Level switch, pressure switch, flow switch etc. any type of switch. , Feedback and run feedback of any pump, feedback of alarm etc.

Digital Output - These are signals that move from PLC to field in the form of 0 & 1.
Such as: - Solenoid valve, feedback to start or stop the motor etc.


 In Hindi :-

सिगनल - यह एक तरह का एलेट्रिकल करंट होता है जिसके माध्यम से हम डाटा को एक स्थान से दूसरे स्थान तक पहुंचाने के लिए करते है। 

हम इंस्ट्रूमेंटेशन और ऑटोमेशन सेक्टर में दो तरह  का सिगनल यूज़  करते है। 

१) एनालॉग सिगनल 
२) डिजिटल सिगनल 

एनालॉग सिगनल -  एनालॉग सिगनल वह सिगनल होते है जिसमे सिगनल 4 -20 mA  के फॉर्म  में होता है। 
यह दो प्रकार के होते है। 
१) एनालॉग इनपुट 
२) एनालॉग आउटपुट 

एनालॉग इनपुट  -  यह वह सिगनल  होते है  जो 4 -20 mA  के फॉर्म में फील्ड से पीएलसी में आते है। 
जैसे :- फ्लो मीटर ,प्रेशर ट्रांसमीटर ,लेवल ट्रांसमीटर ,पीएच एनालाइजर ,टूरबीडीटी और टीडीएस एनालाइजर ,क्लोरीन एनालाइजर ,वाइब्रेशन प्रोब्स आदि। 

एनालॉग आउटपुट - यह वह सिगनल  होते है  जो 4 -20 mA  के फॉर्म में पीएलसी से फील्ड में जाते है। 
जैसे :- कण्ट्रोल वाल्व आदि 

डिजिटल सिगनल -  डिजिटल  सिगनल वह सिगनल होते है जिसमे सिगनल 0 &1   के फॉर्म  में होता है। 
यह दो प्रकार के होते है। 
१) डिजिटल  इनपुट 
२) डिजिटल  आउटपुट   

डिजिटल  इनपुट :-  यह वह सिगनल  होते है  जो 0 &1  के फॉर्म में फील्ड से पीएलसी में आते है।    
जैसे:- लेवल स्विच ,प्रेशर स्विच ,फ्लो स्विच आदि किसी भी प्रकार का स्विच हो। , किसी भी पंप का रन और फाल्ट का फीडबैक , अलार्म का फीडबैक  आदि 

डिजिटल  आउटपुट - यह वह सिगनल  होते है  जो 0 &1 के फॉर्म में पीएलसी से फील्ड में जाते है। 
जैसे :- सोलेनोइड वाल्व , मोटर को स्टार्ट या स्टॉप करने का फीडबैक आदि
