WHAT IS VALVE AND THEIR TYPES

 

 Valve- It is used to stop the flow of water. Apart from this, the pressure is also controlled. It has a handle. Which is operated by a gate or disk attached to the handle when the clock and anti-clock are rotated. Causing the valve to open or close. It requires very little space to be installed.

We will read about valves used in water treatment plants and irrigation fields in this topic.

Types of valves -

1) Butterfly valve

2) Gate valve

3) Globe valve

4) Niddle valve

There are many other types of valves. But most of our water treatment

Plants and irrigation fields use butterfly valves and sluice valves or gate valves. So today we only have to cover these two topics!


1) Butterfly Valve- 

 

These valves are used extensively. Because these valves are very cheap and light compared to other valves. Due to being lightweight, they face less problem in installing. Hence their demand is high.

This valve has a disc mounted right in the middle of the valve which is attached to a handle. When this handle is turned clockwise and anticlockwise, the disc attached to the handle operates perpendicularly or parallel to the water flow. Causing the valve to open or close.

2) Gate Valve - 

 



This valve is also called sluice valve. It takes very little space to install. That's why this valve is also used a lot. This valve also has a gate located right in the middle of the valve which is attached to a handle. When this handle is turned anticlockwise, the gate attached to the handle rises, which opens the valve. And on rotating the clock, the gate slowly goes down, which closes the valve. The pressure loss in this valve is very less.

We use both types of valves a lot in water, gas and oil pipelines. 


                                                       वाल्व और उनके प्रकार 


वाल्व के प्रकार -

१) बटरफ्लाई वाल्व 

२) स्लुईस वाल्व या गेट वाल्व 

३) ग्लोब वाल्व 

४) नीडल वाल्व 

और भी कई तरह के वाल्व होते है। लेकिन हमारे वाटर ट्रीटमेन्ट प्लांट और इरीगेशन फील्ड में सबसे ज्यादा बटरफ्लाई वाल्व और स्लुईस वाल्व या गेट वाल्व  का ही उपयोग किया जाता है। इसलिए आज हम केवल इन्ही दो टॉपिक को पड़ेंगे ! 

१)  बटरफ्लाई वाल्व-  इन वाल्व का उपयोग बहुत ही ज्यादा किया जाता है। क्योकि ये वाल्व अन्य वाल्व की  तुलना में बहुत सस्ते और हल्के होते है। हल्के होने की वजह से इन्हें इनस्टॉल करने में कम दिक्कत का सामना करना पड़ता है। इसलिए इनकी डिमांड ज्यादा होती है। 

इस वाल्व में वाल्व के ठीक बीच में एक डिस्क लगा होता है जो एक हैंडल से जुड़ा होता है।  इस हैंडल को क्लॉक और एंटीक्लॉक घुमाने पर हैंडल से जुड़ा हुआ डिस्क जल प्रवाह के परपेंडिकुलर(लंबबत) या पैरलल (समान्तर)ऑपरेट होता है। जिससे वाल्व खुलता या बंद होता है। 

२) गेट वाल्व - इस वाल्व को स्लुइस वाल्व भी कहा जाता है। ये इनस्टॉल होने में बहुत ही कम जगह घेरते है।  इसलिए इस वाल्व का उपयोग भी बहुत ज्यादा किया जाता है। इस वाल्व में भी वाल्व के ठीक बीच में एक गेट लगा होता है जो एक हैंडल से जुड़ा होता है। इस हैंडल को एंटीक्लॉक घुमाने पर हैंडल से जुड़ा हुआ गेट ऊपर की ओर उठता है जिससे वाल्व खुल जाता है। और क्लॉक घुमाने पर गेट धीरे-धीरे निचे जाता है जिससे वाल्व बंद हो जाता है।  इस वाल्व में प्रेशर लॉस बहुत कम होता है।   

दोनों प्रकार के वाल्व का उपयोग हम वाटर,गैस और आयल पाइप लाइन में बहुत करते है।
